Matt Ellis is a Gen X tattooer that has been working professionally for almost 30 years. As a graduate of York University with a degree in Fine Arts and Anthropology, Matt was naturally attracted to arguably the world’s oldest true art… tattooing. Having worked on the mean streets of early 2000s Queen West, and the wild west of North York, doing conventions and guest spots all over Canada, the USA, and as far as Berlin, Matt decided to settle down. In 2008 Matt co-opened Seven Crowns tattoo and quickly watched it become one of Canada’s best group of young tattooers. Matt also opened an art gallery that hosted artists and tattooers from all over Canada. Seven Crowns hosted some of the longest running group charity shows in the country following the likes of Paul Booth and Philip Leu within their art fusion event, which Matt was lucky enough to have been involved in.
